She Blocked Whoever Accused Her of Editing Her Photos
Social media can be a terrible place filled with trolls and hurtful comments, but one thing we'll give social media credit for is the fact that most people have autonomy over their own accounts. Yes, we have the power to block people! This means that we can remove people from our online worlds and stop them from making comments that will hurt us. And that's exactly what this woman decided to do.
She claimed that her photos hadn't been edited or filtered in any way, and she wasn't going to stand for anyone saying otherwise. And as soon as they did... they were blocked!
Strike a Pose
So many people dream of being famous. They dream of having their name in lights, they dream of performing to crowds of adoring fans, and they dream of being out there for the world to admire. And while there are certainly many perks to being famous, there are also some major downsides. For example, if you try and hide your real age online, it won't be long until your critics come along and question you.
When Madonna posted the photo on the left online, many wondered what anti-aging tricks she was using. But then they saw the real-life photo on the right and realized they were social media tricks instead.
Eye Spy With My Big Eyes
Let's be honest; most people want to edit their photos before they post them online. Social media is a place for you to show off and prove how great and attractive you are, so a little filter here and there can't hurt anyone, right? Well, there's a fine line between adjusting the lighting and completely changing your facial features, and it seems as though this woman not only toed the line - but went miles past it.
We don't blame her for wanting to make her eyes pop, but there's no doubt about the fact that they're popping a little too much for our liking. In fact, they're a little scary.
Oh-So-Soft
Most people would agree that the worst part about aging is dealing with wrinkles. That's why shelves in stores are filled with anti-aging and anti-wrinkle creams and treatments that all claim to smooth out your skin and make you look half your age. But why would you want to smooth them over? Wrinkles are the sign of a life well-lived, and using filters won't fool anyone when you post photos like this online.
Yes, these two pictures are of the same woman - but we have to say that we think the picture on the right shows someone who has lived more of a full and happy life.
A Dazzling Smile
Given a chance, we bet most people would take someone up on the offer of free anti-ageing treatments. We'd relish in the opportunity to have our teeth whitened for free, we'd love a free makeover, and we couldn't say 'yes' fast enough when offered a free haircut and color. So, we can understand why this woman would take the opportunity to use a free social media software to do these things herself.
Unfortunatelty, some freebies are just too good to be true, and that's certainly the case with this woman. While she tried to enhance her features, she ended up looking like an anime Dolly Parton lookalike.
Going on a Christmas Dinner Date
Hands up if you love an ugly sweater? We're going to assume that many of you are waving your hands in the air like you don't care right now, as ugly sweaters are both hilarious and intentionally ugly - which makes them super fun! This couple obviously feels the same way, which is why they decided to head out on their dinner date wearing their matching ugly sweaters. Of course, they had to snap a selfie for the occasion.
But while we admire their confidence to wear such sweaters, we do have to question the extra filtering that's been added on the top. Those eyes are so blue they're actually a little creepy.
An Itty-Bitty Waist
You probably don't need us to tell you that beauty standards are all over the place. On the one hand, we're told to age gracefully and avoid anti-ageing treatments, but on the other hand, we're bombarded with photos and videos of 43-year-old Kim Kardashian looking like her 20-something-year-old siblings. So, what are we to do? Well, it seems as though this woman decided to dress how she wanted, but add a little filtering into the mix too.
We can see that she loves her outfit and feels confident, so why did she feel the need to Photoshop her body in a way that looks completely unnatural and impossible?
Makeup and Expensive Wigs
On social media, you can't hide. Although you can try and lie about your real age, there's always going to be someone who questions you and your motives - and that can be a hard pill to swallow. But when this woman was questioned about her real age, she wanted to assure her critics that her anti-aging look was all thanks to makeup and expensive wigs. Unfortunately, they didn't believe her.
While we have no doubts that everyone looks different when they're wearing a wig and expensive makeup, we do have to question whether there was something else involved in this anti-aging magic.
Instagram Vs Reality
Like the rest of the world, we're avid Instagram users. There's nothing better than waking up in the morning and scrolling through the posts you missed out on while you're sleeping, but this social media platform also allows for a lot of misinformation. Especially when you see how many filters and online anti-aging tricks people use to fool us into thinking they're younger than they are. You know, like this guy.
The guy on the right looks pretty cool and confident in his own skin and style, so we can't help but wonder why he'd use so many filters he no longer looked like himself.
Smile for the Camera
We love the fact that we live in a world where you can snap photos of your life and share them with the world. That fact is one of the most beautiful things about social media and one of the things that many people enjoy doing on a regular basis. And we can only assume that this woman is one of them. She was feeling herself during the holiday period, so she decided to snap some festive photos and share them online.
Kudos to her for loving herself and embracing this confidence, but the people who saw these photos were still a little confused. Sure, there were filters in the background, but what about on her face?
Caught on Camera
Although social media is one of the greatest gifts of the modern world, it's important to remember that it's impossible to hide your real age behind a screen. Unless you decide to never leave the house again, of course. And while people can do what they want to make themselves seem younger in their photos, it's important for them to realize that these changes don't reflect how they look in real life.
So, that's why online critics decided to call this woman out when she appeared on television. After all, she looked very different in real life than she did in her online photos.
All About Angles
If you could either choose to take your own picture or have someone else take a photo of you, which would you choose? We're going to go ahead and assume that you'd choose the former option, as only you know your perfect angles and the right lighting that makes your skin pop. That's why it's important to understand that people will always look a little different in real life to how they look online, but sometimes they can look drastically different.
This woman is one of them. And while there's no doubt that the picture on the right features bad angles and bad lighting, the filters on the left are also hard to ignore.
Beautiful in Black and White
Let's be honest; everything looks more beautiful in black and white. And while you'd assume that adding a black and white filter to your photos would make you look older, sometimes it can actually have an anti-aging effect and make you look much younger than you are. Don't believe us? Just look at this woman! She looks half her real age in the black and white version of the image.
Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge that she had also used some anti-aging tricks of the trade to make her look younger still. That jawline is completely different.
Un-Reality TV
One of the things we don't understand about people in the public eye is that they obviously lie about their age on social media. Of course, people can do what they want with their photos, and if they want to filter their selfies, they're within their right to do that. But do they not realize that they're often photographed raw and seen on television without all of those filters? They just can't uphold the lie.
That leaves them open to criticism from fans who just want them to be open and honest about the aging process. Especially when they have such a big platform at their fingertips.
Some Subtle Photo Editing
Yes, that is Madonna again. And this isn't a dig at Madonna, as we're utterly obsessed with the Queen of Pop. Her career is unmatched, her songs will go down in history, and her legacy will live on for centuries thanks to her impressive impact on the music world. But as she's gotten older, Madonna has also been called out for her use of filtering and Photoshop when posting online.
Of course, Madonna has also been open and honest about having anti-aging treatments and surgery to make herself look younger. But her photos on social media take that to the extreme.
Mother and Daughter?
As you scroll through social media, you're probably bombarded with a whole host of photos. From pictures of people's avocados on toast to their vacations in Hawaii, there's so much to see on social media - and you could spend days endlessly scrolling through everything. You often get to see family pictures, too. And while you might assume that these two pictures are of mother and daughter, they're actually of the same woman!
While we appreciate a smoothing here and a little filter there, this woman has taken her anti-aging photo editing skills to the next level. In fact, she's given herself a completely different hairstyle.
Sibling Rivalry
We love it when we see people embracing the natural signs of aging. From the wrinkles around their eyes to the slightly sagging skin and the gray hair, these are all signs of a life well-lived and a life full of happiness and adventure. And while we do have to celebrate this brother and sister for their amazing hair, we do have to question the sibling rivalry between them. After all, these are the same pictures posted by each sibling on their account.
We don't know who posted what, but you can see that one of the siblings was a little more conscious of their wrinkles than the other. And we're not sure we're seeing the real them in either of these photos.
Vote for Them
Have you ever met someone running for mayor? There's a high chance that you haven't, but let us take a moment to introduce you to this woman who decided that she wanted to run for mayor in her local county. And while we'd like to give a round of applause to her for making such strides in her career, we can't help but think that she's already off to a bad start by posting photos like the one on the left.
Mayors are supposed to be truth-tellers, and they're supposed to be their authentic selves. However, the picture on the left is very filtered in comparison to how she looks in real life.
Age With Grace
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the fact that the 'real' image of the woman on the right is 58 years old? We need to know her anti-aging tricks, because she's absolutely stunning and looks so young for her age. That's why we can't quite understand why she'd edit her photos in such a way, like the one on the right. She already looks so young, so why make herself look younger?
In the photo on the left, she looks like she could be her own daughter. What's more, she looks so much happier in the second, more natural, photo of herself.
Ken, Is That You?
Unless you've been living under a rock these past few years, you'll know that Barbie fever has well and truly taken over the world. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling have made us fall back in love with Barbie and Ken, and given us the chance to really question the beauty industry and our desire to look younger and look as beautiful as possible. That's why we're a little concerned about the man in this photo.
Despite the amazing lessons the movie taught us, this guy still wanted to turn himself into a human Ken doll - and it's a little scary. Those eyes are piercing into our soul.
The Tiger King
You probably don't need us to tell you that The Tiger King is a very controversial man. Although he rose to fame through a very famous Netflix show, this show didn't do him any favors. In fact, he's now sitting behind bars and waiting for his release. And due to the millions of people who watched this show, millions of people also know exactly what Joe Exotic looks like in real life.
Because of this, he can't get away with posting photos like the one on the left on social media without people questioning his ability to look 20 years younger than he is.
A Gym Selfie
When scrolling through social media, you won't be hard-pressed to find someone posting about their gym antics. From gym selfies to videos of their weightlifting gains, people love to post about the fact that they're working out and living a healthy lifestyle. Of course, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, as a healthy lifestyle is the key to turning back the clock. But can it turn the clock back this much?
We hate to call this Photoshop, but there's no way this head belongs to this body. It looks completely disjointed and looks way too fake to belong to a body that looks very real.
In the Press Vs in Interviews
This is a PSA to anyone looking to make their way into the public eye: you can't hide what you really look like. This is the case whether you're an A-list celebrity appearing in the biggest movie of the year or a local politician running for the top spot. After all, news and movie cameras won't use the filters you use when you take and edit your own photos, so there's always going to be a discrepancy.
This is the case for this woman, whose critics couldn't help but notice that she looked completely different in her press photos than she did in her live interviews. And she couldn't escape the criticism.
Sparkle and Shine
There's real beauty in aging gracefully. And while you can use the odd anti-aging cream to maintain healthy skin as you get older, embracing your changing appearance is one of the most amazing things you can do. After all, you're meant to look that way! But it seems as though some people just don't want to do that, so they use treatments and filters to make themselves look much younger than they are.
This woman is one of them, and she smoothed out all of her wrinkles in this sparkly selfie on the left. We think she looks better on the right, though.
The Same Guy?
While social media is a hotbed for filters and Photoshop, dating apps are just as bad. In fact, it's incredibly easy to be catfished on dating sites, and most people don't know what the person they're talking to actually looks like. Just take this guy as an example. While there's no doubt about the fact that the picture on the right shows a very attractive man who would make anyone happy, the photo on the left looks completely different.
From the face shape to the smile and the hair, everything about this guy is different. And that's probably caused him a few problems in the dating world over the years.
The Mighty Duck Lips
There are so many treatments out there that claim to make you look younger than you are. Of course, you have the well-known Botox and facelift procedures, but many people also choose to add facial and lip fillers into the mix, too. This often results in 'duck lips,' and this woman seems to have them. But we can't help but wonder if she's happy with the results, as her social media pictures look completely different.
In fact, she's toned down her treatments in the filtered and Photoshopped image. So, does this mean that she's not happy with the treatments that claimed to make her look younger?
Instagram Vs Tagged
You can tell a lot about a person by their Instagram account. A quick look at their account will show you whether they're someone who likes to post a lot about everything and anything or whether they're a slow poster who saves space on their timeline for the most important things in their lives. You can also learn a lot about them by the pictures they post vs the pictures they're tagged in.
Normally, their tagged photos show the 'real' them without all of the filters and Photoshop, and that's exactly what happened in the case of this woman. She looks very different, that's for sure.
That Smize, Though
We have to hand it to this woman; she really has mastered smiling with her eyes in her Instagram photos. She looks like an Instagram influencer millions of people would follow, and we bet they do! And while we appreciate the time and effort that goes into taking and editing the photos we see of influencer's on social media, it's important to remember that these are just small and often fake snippets of their lives.
When this woman appeared on TV, her fans could see that she didn't look quite as polished and perfect as she did online. She didn't look as young in real life, either.
Filter Schmilter
Let's be honest; most of us have used filters while using social media. Sometimes, they can make a background look brighter or darker depending on the aesthetic you're going for; sometimes, they can make you look healthier, and sometimes, they can just make you feel more confident. And while we think everyone has the right to edit their own photos in the way they want, we think there should be a limit to how much they edit their photos.
After all, if your edited photo makes you look like a completely different person - like this woman - maybe it's time to lay off using them. Or at least tone them down slightly.
Those Baby Blues
In a world where we're bombarded with Photoshopped images and pictures of perfect models on a daily basis, it's understandable that some people feel self-conscious about their own appearance. Many people feel like they're not good enough as their natural selves, which is why they opt to use filters and Photoshop to turn them into what they think is considered to be attractive. But does this always work in their favor?
If we're being totally honest, we think this guy looks way more handsome in the non-edited picture! He looks like a rugged man who's lived a good life - and that's attractive.
That First Discovery
When was the first time you discovered that you could edit your selfies with ease? After all, you don't need fancy software or a computer degree to add a filter or Photoshop your photos. All you need is a smartphone and a little time, and you can turn your photos into anything you want. Judging by the difference between these two photos, we can assume that this woman has just discovered the art of the filter.
So, that's probably why she's decided to completely filter out her skin texture and her eye crinkles. But if you ask us, she doesn't look as happy in the first picture.
31 Years Old?
If people want to try and make themselves look younger using beauty treatments and anti-aging hacks, that's down to them. If it makes them feel more confident and love themselves, then that's a good thing! However, temporarily changing your appearance online through the use of filters is a little more dangerous, as there's no consistency between how you look online and how you look in real life. And that can be pretty scary.
Take this guy for example. He apparently claims to be 31 years old and posts photos like the one on the left, where he flaunts fake watches and cars that he supposedly doesn't own.
Love the Hair
Many people age like a fine wine and really grow into the person they're meant to be as the years go by. This makes them more beautiful and attractive as they get older, and this is something that should be celebrated. In our opinion, the woman on the left is one of them! She looks absolutely stunning for her age, and we can't get enough of her beautiful hair and her smile.
The fact that she felt the need to edit her photos in a way that makes her look completely unrecognisable makes us sad, as many people would do anything to look like the woman on the left.
Lady in Blue
We have to give this woman credit because she does know how to edit a photo. While it's clear to see that it's been edited - especially after seeing her in real life - there's no doubt about the fact that these edits are way more tasteful and subtle than some of the others on this list. However, there's no denying that these edits also make her look about 20 years younger.
If that's what she was going for, then she nailed it! But let's hope that she embraces what she really looks like at her age and loves herself for that, too.
Oops, Missed It
In an ever-changing job market, there are many people who are paid a very decent salary to edit photos. And while you may scoff at their salary due to the ease of editing photos on the likes of Instagram, there's a reason why they get paid the big bucks. After all, when amateurs edit photos, they often miss very obvious clues that they've edited their photos. Like a mirror reflection, for example...
Although this woman did a fairly good job of blurring and smoothing out the wrinkles on her face, she forgot about the reflection that was ready and willing to reveal her secrets.
Aging Like Fine Wine
People age very differently. There are some people who age extremely well and look much younger than they actually are, and then there are some people who age a lot faster and look older than they are. It really is the luck of the drawer which category you fall into, but we can't help but think that this woman fits into the former category. In reality, she's 48 years old - but we don't think she looks it.
In fact, we don't think she looks it in either of these two photos. And while we know the first photo is edited, she still looks young in the second photo, too.
All About the Promo
Everything about social media is about how you look. For many people, it's all about promotion and putting themselves out there for business deals - and that makes it difficult for regular people to know what's real and what's not. This woman is a prime example of that. While she's beautiful in her real life picture, what's sad is that she felt she had to make herself look younger in her promo pictures.
Most of the time, these filters don't even look real. After all, nobody has skin that looks this fresh and blurred! So, why don't people just embrace their own looks?
Chris Pratt, That You?
Does anyone else see Chris Pratt in the top left photo? Well, you're not alone. And while there are many people in this world who are the spitting image of famous celebrities, it's clear to see that this man isn't one of them. Sure, with a little editing, he definitely does look like the Starlord, but in real life and with his glasses on, he just looks like himself. And there's nothing wrong with that!
What is wrong with this situation is the fact that this guy doesn't feel confident enough in himself to put photos of his real appearance on social media. And that's pretty sad.
A Little Different
Let's be honest; we're all different at work and in real life. What you wear to work might be totally different to what you wear when you're at home or hanging out with your friends, and this can have a real impact on how old you look. We can assume that this guy has been burned by this fact. After all, he'd never wear a hooded sweater while sitting in front of the camera for the evening news.
But there's no denying the fact that this is more than just the clothes he's wearing. This guy also looks about 20 years younger in the photo on the left.
Smoothing Things Out
Today's beauty standards frown upon wrinkles. People with wrinkles are deemed too old, even though these wrinkles are just part and parcel of a healthy and happy life. So, we don't blame this woman for wanting to smooth out a few of her wrinkles when she knew she was going to be going on a billboard. She probably felt more confident that way, and that's not her fault at all!
However, it does make things a little difficult when she meets people in real life, and they don't recognize her from her billboard. In fact, she could be her billboard's mother.
