Seeing the Beauty in Life
Unhealthy habits come in so many different forms. Some people eat too much, some people drink too much, some people live an inactive lifestyle, and then there are others who rely on substances to get by. This woman was one of them, and you can see from her face and her physical frame that these substances took a huge toll on her body and her mental health. But now she's 19 months clean, and never been better.
The physical changes in this woman are extraordinary, but we have no doubts that the mental changes are even better. She's even said herself that, "I'm finally starting to see the beauty in life again."
One Year Sober
It's amazing just how much certain unhealthy habits can impact your life. In fact, one habit can affect so many different areas of your being - from your mental health to your body shape and your overall physical health. Don't believe us? Just check out this guy! He had been drinking almost daily since the day he was 15 years old, and this took a huge toll on his body.
But after one year of sobriety, he looks like a completely different person. His glow-up has seen his weight go down, and at 29 years old he's 81lbs down and looking better than ever.
A Reason Bigger Than Himself
Let's be honest; life is hard. Everyone has their own battles in life, and everyone has their own demons that gnaw away at them on a daily basis. For this guy, substances ruled his life for 10 years and he didn't see any way out - but then his son came along and changed everything. His son sparked a change in him and he kicked his unhealthy habits to step up to the plate and be a parent.
It takes a strong person to change their life for another person completely, and the change in this guy is extremely apparent. From his skin to his smile, this guy has nailed it.
5 Years Later
Anyone who has ever been around those with substance abuse issues will know that recovery isn't linear. It's common for people to have setbacks and bad days, but it's how they persevere that really shapes them as a person. And it's hard to believe that this is the same woman, right? Five years ago, she was arrested, and her mugshot showed the pain and the struggle in her eyes. Now, she looks healthier than ever.
Five years of being clean has allowed this woman to become the person she was always meant to be, and her eyes show just how full of life she is now that she's kicked her unhealthy habits.
Healthier and Happy
A lot of the time, unhealthy habits stick together and go hand in hand. Those who deal with substance issues also lack nutrition and live an inactive lifestyle, which can go one of two ways. Some people become extremely thin, while others pack on the pounds. This guy was one of them, but his sobriety journey has led him down a new path - and this one looks much healthier.
One year into his journey, he's lost a whopping 130lbs by focusing on proper nutrition, exercise, and keeping away from the harmful substances that were dominating his life for so many years.
A Fuller Face and a Fuller Life
Substance abuse can have a huge impact on the human body, and this woman knows this better than most. During the height of her unhealthy lifestyle, her body struggled so much that almost all of her teeth fell out, and her face collapsed as a result. This completely changed her physical appearance - but it seemed as though this flipped a switch in her and forced her to face her demons once and for all.
How amazing does she look now? Since kicking her unhealthy habits and focusing on staying clean and sober, this woman has been able to find a newfound sense of life - and she has new teeth!
It's so Much Better
Have you ever noticed the correlation between drinking and weight gain? Many people that are struggling with unhealthy drinking habits often find that they pack on the pounds during the height of their struggles, and this is extremely common. This is often because people put more time and attention into drinking than exercising or getting proper nutrition. But one year into this man's sobriety journey and the weight loss is clear to see.
As this man says, "Life isn't perfect, but it is so much better." And sometimes "better" is the driving force you need to stick with these new healthy habits and steer clear of the bad ones for life.
Toning It up
Everyone has their own motivations for ditching their unhealthy habits in favor of a healthier lifestyle, and, for most people, it takes one simple moment in time to give them that push that they need. For this woman, it was the photo on the left. As her friends took pictures of her passed out on the floor, she knew that drinking was ruling her life and harming her in a way she had never realized before.
So, she decided to give up drinking once and for all - and she's lost 95lbs in the process. She says, "Fat drunk girl is now sober and toning this body up," and it's definitely true!
Recovery Can Really Work
Becoming sober isn't as simple as turning the lights on. Sobriety is a journey that has its ups and downs and can even have some major setbacks. But sometimes all someone needs is proof that recovery has a positive outcome - and that's exactly what this guy needed. In his darkest hours, he looked at other people's transformation photos to see whether they seemed achievable. Now, he's been able to share his.
Five years of sobriety looks good on this guy, and the glow-up is real. Of course, he looks healthier physically, but the biggest takeaway from this transformation is the fact that he looks so much happier.
Having a Fresh Star
Substance abuse can have such a drastic effect on the human body, and this man knows that better than anyone. In the photo on the left, he had been admitted to hospital because he suffered a major cardiac arrest and almost passed away. That same day, he also caught pneumonia, and his body almost shut down. It was in those dark moments that he decided to kick his bad habits and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
He says, "90 days since I took the opportunity to have a fresh start." And it's safe to say that this fresh start looks very good on him. The transformation is incredible.
A Radiating Glow
For some people, substances can dominate their lives. They become their reason to live, and they become their reason for being. This was the case for this woman, who spent 17 years of her life battling these unhealthy habits and trying to fight back against her demons. Now, she's kicked those habits and started fresh, and her physical transformation is astounding. Her emotional achievements, however, are even more impressive.
She says, "The transformation is one of my biggest achievements. During darkness, I have found a renewed sense of self. The glow I now radiate is not just visible but palpable."
Same Man, Different Year
Although some people go on "health kicks" that allow them to lose weight through exercise and good nutrition in a few weeks, this process is more difficult for those who are battling with substance abuse. But after six years of sobriety, this guy can finally say that he feels like the version of himself that he was always meant to be - and just look at that transformation. The weight loss is astounding.
To celebrate this new life, this guy also decided to grow out his hair - and we have to say that we love the long hair look. It suits him so well, and he looks so much healthier for it.
A Strong and Healthy Future
It's amazing how unhealthy habits can age you. By drinking or using these substances on a daily basis, you often become a shell of your former self, looking much older than you are and looking nothing like the person you were meant to be. That's exactly what happened to this guy, and the differences between these two photos are huge. In fact, we'd go as far as to say that they look like two completely different people!
He said, "Every day, I wake up, and I'm grateful that I never have to be that sick again. Thanks to my family, rehab, and everyone else." And can we just take a second to appreciate the hair glow-up?
So Darn Proud
We live in a world where unhealthy habits are often celebrated, and healthy habits are frowned upon. After all, have you ever been to a party and asked for a soda? The looks you get from people astounded that you'd willingly choose to drink a soda instead of something stronger is what makes the world a dangerous place - and this young woman paid the price when she was in the midst of her own unhealthy habits.
Two years of sobriety has proven to this woman that she can come up from rock bottom even stronger, and just look how much happier she is! That smile really does say it all.
Stuck in Limbo
It's fair to say that severe unhealthy habits can stunt your growth as a human. This man experienced that himself when, at 22 years old, he still had never had a job or any form of identification to his name. Instead, his life was governed by his unhealthy habits. But at 23 years old he decided to focus on a healthier lifestyle and it's clear to see that this has had a huge impact on his life.
From his outward appearance to the way that he holds himself, this guy has won. But that's not all. He now has a full-time job and an ID, and he'd never look back.
By His Side
Recovery is so much easier when you have someone to stick by your side, but this is easier said than done. Many people lose a lot of their friends and family when they're in the depths of their unhealthy habits, and finding people to stick around and have your best interests at heart can be hard. Luckily for this guy, however, he found someone willing to put their faith in him and his sobriety.
This guy's glow-up is truly remarkable, and the fact that he's now swapped his unhealthy lifestyle for a healthy lifestyle also seems to have worked wonders for their relationship. They look happier than ever.
Hitting Rock Bottom
Hitting rock bottom looks different for different people. It could be the breakdown of a relationship, it could be the loss of their home, or it could be the moment that their bad habits land them in a hospital bed. For this guy, it was the latter, and after his dice with death, he decided to focus on breaking his bad habits and living a healthier lifestyle. As you can see, his plan worked.
45 days after his hospital stint, this guy looks like a new man. He believed in himself, and he believed that he could break his cycle, and that's exactly what he did.
Huge Congratulations
While many people gloss over the fact that people completely change their lives by ditching unhealthy habits and becoming sober, there are others who appreciate the true magnitude of this achievement. After all, it takes a huge toll on your mental and physical health to make such a drastic change - but if you stick with it the perks will outweigh all of the struggles and sacrifices you have to make.
Yes, this woman is proof that, if you stick with it, you can completely transform so many aspects of your life. So, we have nothing but admiration for this young woman.
Blemish-Free and Happy
Unhealthy habits can affect so many areas of your life, including your skin. Poor nutrition, a lack of exercise, and the consumption of dangerous substances can all lead to bad breakouts and sallow, thin skin. Most people don't realize this at the time, though. And this woman said, "A lot has changed in my life over this past year. I didn't realize how much sobriety helped my skin until looking back at old photos."
By kicking her bad habits and focusing on making herself healthier and happier, this woman has seen drastic changes in her skin. And these photos were only taken three years apart!
Asking for Help
Many people struggle with their unhealthy habits because they're afraid to ask for help. They're worried that they'll be judged, and they're worried that asking for help will change their lives for the worse. But sometimes you just need to take the leap - and this guy is proof that asking for help can transform your life in ways you never even imagined. Instead of relying on drink to get through the day, this guy has now found his calling in exercise.
His body is proof that kicking unhealthy habits can change you both mentally and physically, and he says, "Today marks 1,000 days sober. Going into rehab and having the courage to ask for help saved my life."
Recovery Is Possible
Most people don't choose to have unhealthy habits. Instead, those unhealthy habits are a by-product of other issues in their lives - such as mental health struggles. It was these mental health struggles that led this woman down a destructive path to the point where she nearly passed away. But after multiple stints in mental health facilities and recovery problems, she was able to find sobriety and change her life.
Now, she wants to know that recovery is possible. A few years ago, she almost passed away, but now she's in a happy relationship with a new baby and completing a master's degree.
The Daddy Glow-Up
You can lead a horse to water but you can't force them to drink, and the same can be said for those with unhealthy habits. Although you can ask them to make healthier changes, ultimately they need to make that decision for themselves. And for some people, that kick up the butt comes in the form of a child. On the day that this man's son was born (which just so happened to be his own birthday), he made the decision to become sober.
In fact, you could say that his son was the gift he received for making the decision to become sober. And that's the kind of gift you definitely can't buy in a store.
The Most Amazing Life
Some people spend decades living an unhealthy lifestyle without truly understanding the effect it's having on their bodies - and this guy was one of them. He spent 20 years focusing on bad habits rather than healthy ones, and it took a major toll on his body in the process. In fact, he almost died five times in a single month. And after a serious stint in the hospital, he vowed to make changes.
Two years later he's now clean, sober, and focusing on positive habits instead of bad ones. He's now putting his energy into exercise and nutrition, and he looks healthier than ever.
A Beautiful, Happy Smile
Anyone who has ever been around those with bad habits will know that they often seem like a shell of themselves. They seem as though their light has been dulled, and they're devoid of any real happiness. If you're not sure what we're talking about, just look at these two pictures. On the left, this woman looks sad and empty. On the right, she looks bright, vibrant, and full of light.
The difference between these two pictures is four years of sobriety and completely different goals in life. Before, she was focused on bad habits. Now, she's focused on exercise, nutrition, and living her best life possible.
No More Problems
Unfortunately, there's a definite link between unhealthy habits and crime. Many people struggling with drinking or substance abuse problems also find themselves in trouble with the law, and this guy was no different. In his first picture, he always looked for his next fix, committing crimes left, right and center. In fact, he was arrested more times than he can remember - and his mugshot shows how unhappy he was.
On the right hand, however, he looks like a completely different person. He's clean, he's sober, and he hasn't committed a single crime since then. We bet he's incredibly proud of his achievements.
Staying Motivated
It takes a huge amount of motivation and bravery to quit the unhealthy habits that have followed you for so many years. Some people choose to make changes in stages, while others decide to go completely cold turkey and hope that this works in their favor. That's exactly what this guy did, and he decided to ditch drink and harmful substances at the exact same time. It wasn't easy, but he did it.
One year later and these pictures serve as all the motivation he needs to continue on his sober journey. He's 200lbs down and finally looks like the man he always hoped he'd be.
Barely Recognizable
One thing those who have kicked unhealthy habits always say is that they don't recognize their former selves, and that just goes to show you don't know what's really going on until you're out of it. At the time, this woman had no idea that she was struggling with an eating disorder or that her substance abuse was getting out of hand. Looking back, however, she sees how bad she really was.
Looking at herself now, this woman is proud of how far she has worked to overcome her demons. After all, becoming sober is extremely hard work, and deserves to be celebrated.
Turning It Around
It's amazing what people can do when they choose to turn their lives around and kick their unhealthy habits. When the mugshot on the left was taken, this man was bouncing in and out of psych wards and jail cells and didn't seem to have much of a future under his belt. But when he made the decision to become sober, his life changed in more ways than he could have ever imagined.
Not only does this man look younger four years later, but he also has an impressive career under his belt. In fact, he's now engaged and has become a counselor to the homeless.
Got Her Life Back
If you're struggling with your own unhealthy lifestyle, it's important to know that it's not going to be easy. Giving up the things that you think make you happy is going to be tough and sometimes incredibly uncomfortable, but when you reach your goals you'll wonder why you never took the leap in the first place. That's exactly what this woman went though, and now she's happier than she's ever been.
She says, "I was so uncomfortable in my skin that I only felt "good" when I was partying. Every day I make the conscious decision to stay sober because now I know that I can never go back to the hopelessness that I used to feel."
Looking Younger Than Ever
While many people rely on their unhealthy habits to make them feel alive and full of life, pictures like this just go to show that these substances can make you look a lot older than you actually are. After all, there are two years between these two photos, but in the 'before' photo on the left, this guy looks 15 years older than in the photo on the right. And that's all thanks to two years of sobriety.
We bet he also feels younger in himself, and if he's coupled his sobriety with good nutrition and exercise, we can only assume that he's also healthier than he's ever been.
A Happy Man
Have you ever looked back at photos of your life and known exactly how you were feeling at the time based on your facial expressions? Looking at the photo on the left, it's clear to see that this man felt lost, confused, and sad. And when this picture was taken, this man was living an extremely unhealthy lifestyle and focusing on bad habits rather than focusing on living a healthy life.
Fast-forward six years, and the man on the right is now five years sober and looking like a new man. That smile on his face says it all, as that's pure happiness.
It's Worth It
It's highly unlikely that you'll find anyone who regrets going through recovery. While the process is certainly tough and can often feel like it's the worst decision you ever made, it's worth all of the pain and the tears in the end. And if you don't believe us, just look at this woman. In the left picture, she's battling through her darkest days - and at just 30 days sober she looks like a whole new woman.
The brightness in this woman's face just goes to show that kicking your unhealthy habits in favor of healthier options can make a huge difference and put that smile back on your face.
Feeling Like Himself
When you commit to an unhealthy lifestyle, you often lose track of many other things in your life. For example, you may forget about nutrition and eat junk food for all of your meals, and you might avoid exercise because you lack motivation or drive. While this is extremely common, it's important to note that it's possible to bring that motivation back. In fact, that's exactly what this guy did.
This man said, "Six months sober and 16kg down. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again." And from where we're sitting, he certainly looks like his happy and healthy self, too.
An Important Reminder
You may wonder why people post these transformation pictures online, but it's important to note that these pictures serve as an important reminder - not necessarily to random people on the internet, but to the people in the pictures themselves. And when this woman posted this transformation picture, she also wrote, "Just a picture to remind me that I will never do it again! I am 90 days sober now."
The physical transformation in this woman is absolutely incredible, and everything from her body shape to her skin and her smile has changed. But we bet the emotional transformation is just as impressive.
A New Lease of Life
It's truly amazing how much bad habits can have a hold on your life. These bad habits can dominate everything from your eating habits to your personal relationships and even your career. For some people, they can be absolutely crippling, and this man realized that for himself. Five years ago, he was unhappy, struggling with weight gain and a shell of his former self. Now, he's clean and sober and has a new lease of life.
As well as focusing on improving himself, there's no doubt about the fact that this man also improved himself for the sake of his son. And, sometimes, that's the only reason you need.
10 Years Younger
Bad habits can tear you down quickly, but breaking those bad habits and focusing on a healthier lifestyle can bring you up again just as quickly. This man is the perfect example of that. In January 2021, he looked so much older than he was due to his bad habits. He looked ill, he looked tired, and he even felt as though his life was slipping away from him every single day.
By January 2022, he was eight months sober and looking like a completely different person who was 10 years younger than the man on the left. He seems much happier, too.
A Lot Can Change
In the words of this man, "A lot can change with effort," and he's exactly right. While some people put off the idea of kicking bad habits because they believe it's too hard and that they'll fail, it's important to note that the end result will always outweigh anything else. Sure, it'll be hard and require a huge amount of work, but you'll thank yourself for it in the end.
With some extra focus on exercise, good nutrition, and ditching the liqor, this man has been able to lose weight and find joy in so many other aspects of his life. So, congratulations!
Newfound Sense of Confidence
There are so many things that can change your life, from a happy relationship to a new job and travellng the world. But for some people, the thing that changed their life more than anything was ditching their bad habits and focusing on new, healthy habits that will bring them joy and make them even healthier and happier. For this woman, that was quitting drinking and using harmful and illicit substances.
It's important to remember that recovery isn't linear, though. When the picture on the right was taken, she was two years sober of substances, and two months sober from drinking.
Making Big Changes
When people are in the thick of their bad habits, many of them don't realize just how bad they really are. In fact, this guy didn't realize just how bad his drinking had become until he was in prison for his second DUI. But when he was stuck behind bars, he had an epiphany and decided to go cold turkey and turn his life around. And that's exactly what he's done.
Not only that, but he's also lost 60 pounds in the process. And from that smile on his face, we'd say that he's pretty happy with his new, suave life.
Dry January Forever
In today's modern world, more and more people are experimenting with sobriety and understanding the benefits for themselves. That's what this woman did, anyway. She said, "254 days into this journey from what started as 30 days of Dry January," and it's fair to say that she hasn't looked back after that month-long experiment. Now, sobriety has become a part of her life and a huge part of her personality as a whole.
She looks much happier and healthier for it, too. Everything from her skin to her smile looks fresher and more natural, so we guess Dry January was a major success.
